A large number of residents of Barangay San Francisco (Kapangihan),
Bulusan, converged at the Karuhatan Barangay Hall, Valenzuela City, to celebrate
their fiesta last October 19.
The affair started with an ecumenical mass at 4:00 P.M. officiated by
Rev. Salvador “Buddy” Gacias of the Evangelical Methodist Church who is also
the president of the Kapangihan Kapatiran Association, Inc. (KKAI).
Highlighting the occasion was the coronation of Little Miss KKAI, Jaime
Flores. Others in her entourage
were: Baby Serveño (Little Miss Hope), Pauline Jewel (Little Miss Unity),
Janine Briones (1st runner-up), and Christine Fuasa (2nd
runner-up).
Among those who graced the celebration were Mr. & Mrs. Rogelio
Fuentes, Mr. & Mrs. Ulpiano Sorra, and other Buluseños from other barangays.
In his message, Mr. Fuentes lauded the Kapangihanons for their unity and
existence as one of the few very active barangay associations of Bulusan based
in Metro-Manila. He also thanked
them for their participation in the activities of Damayan-Buluseño, Inc.
Rev. Gacias who is a major in the Philippine Army and chaplain at the V.
Luna Memorial Hospital in Quezon City, told Mr. Fuentes that KKAI was founded in
1997 and since then has been celebrating their barangay fiesta every year on the
third Sunday of October.
