LGU-BULUSAN & DENR SIGN MOA

The long-standing crusade of the Local Government Unit of Bulusan to become a pro-active partner in the development, protection and conservation of the Bulusan Volcano National Park (BVNP) was finally realized with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on October 10, 2003 at the Bulusan Municipal Auditorium.

This mutual covenant was signed by and between the Municipal Government of Bulusan (MGB) represented by its Hon. Mayor Juan G. Guysayko, and the Department of the Environment & Natural Resources (DENR) represented by its Chairman, DENR Region V Regional Director Oscar M. Hamada. The simple ceremony was witnessed by no less than the Congressman of 2^nd District, Hon. Jose G. Solis who likewise committed to set aside funds from his CDF for the development of the lake area.

Development of the tourism industry, which the LGU considers as among its flagship programs, would likely be the immediate thrust of the present administration to enhance its local revenue-generating scheme that would eventually lift the socio-economic condition of the municipality. Thus, the lake area will be the locus and focus of the LGU-management because it is the centerpiece of BVNP which will be the object of first time and repeat visitors due to its scenic view, the placidity of the place and its natural ambiance.

The MGB will initially institute doable preventive and contingency measures to its immediate areas that are susceptible to people-directed activities. (Binoescañoespaño)
