Greetings
Dear Editor,
I hope this reaches you because I have been trying to but been very
unsuccessful. Just to let you know how impressed I am with how the DB is doing.
This is the longest hometown organization and has been very effective in
channeling its aim into very productive outcomes. My regards to the president,
Roger Fuentes; your secretary, Andy Espedido; and the rest. I am saddened by the
demise of a good friend, Letty Tenazas. Please update me on upcoming activities.
We might be home in February for a visit and we will be glad to attend some
functions of any kind.
Sincerely,
Carmencita Fruto -Mesina

Re: [Damayan-Buluseño Gazette] Thank You!
Dear Mr. Tan,
I was very happy to receive your note. It was something I was very
happy to get. I have always treasured anything from the Philippines and its thru
Damayan Gazette that I get news from our good old Sorsogon. Everything is going
great and trully fulfilling.
…
I hope to receive more copies of Damayan. I read it
over and over again. After all, my grandfather is from Bulusan. He was Feliciano Camposano
Fruto and was a Mayor of Irosin before I was born. His father was Fausto Fruto.
So see my blood relations are from Bulusan.
I guess I will write an article for contribution to Damayan
sometime this year. In the meantime, please give my regards to all officers of
DB, to Andy Espedido especially.
Thank you and more power.
Sincerely,
Mrs.Carmen Mesina

[The e-mail sender is one fellow Sorsogueña (a Buluseña in her
own right) whose friendship with the pioneer DBI officers could be traced back
to the heydays of then SARO (Sorsogon Association of Residents Organization) of
which DBI, and that of Mrs. Mesina’s (Irosinians in Manila) were member
organizations. Mrs. Mesina, or
simply Mameng to friends,
just finished her doctorate degrees at Xavier University, and is now working as
a Reading Specialist. She is currently based in Cincinnati, Ohio.]

Dear Mr. Tan,
I now refer to
your gazette, “Damayan-Buluseño Gazette” which I am regularly receiving
since September 2003.
I thank you for
the publication. It is not only
informative and entertaining but it is also a constant reminder of ourselves,
who we are, where we came from, and what we are.
Everytime I receive a coppy of the gazette, the longing to come home is
rekindled within me.
Pasalamatan ko
an mga personalidad sa likod sini na gazette ug hinaot pa unta na maging
malampuson an inyong mga tinguha. Pasalamatan
ko usab si Ester Fulleros-Abitona nga nagpasihugda paghatag sa primero na copia
sa ako dini sa Davao.
Salamat,
