DBI TO AWARD SPONSORS

As a token of appreciation and recognition of their concern for the future and welfare of poor Buluseño youths, the sponsors of the four scholars who have just graduated from college this year will be the major awardees during the Pista sa Maynila celebration of Damayan-Buluseño, Inc. on July 13, 2003 at the Knights of Columbus Clubhouse.

Among the recipients of the award is the family of the late Mayor Bernardo R. Sayarot of Mabitac, Laguna, who was killed in an ambush along the highway in Teresa, Rizal, more than a year ago.  Mayor Sayarot was the sponsor of Lea Balderama of Barangay San Bernardo who graduated with the degree in Architectural Drafting from the Sorsogon State College.

Mayor Sayarot was also the sponsor of Evelyn Diño, a graduate in education from the Philippine Normal University in Manila and now teaching in Texas, USA.  He also sponsored Luzviminda Fragio-Ballesteros who is now a public school teacher in Bulusan.

Aside from being a scholarship sponsor, the late Mayor Sayarot had been very supportive of the various civic and humanitarian projects of Damayan-Buluseño, Inc. and had employed a number of Buluseños in his business establishments.

To be awarded also is La Tondeña Foundation, Inc. which sponsored the scholarship of Marlon Rabulan who took up Electrical Engineering at the Technological University of the Philippines.  His scholarship was made possible by Maj. General Cesar F. Fortuno who was then a top executive of La Tondeña Distellers, Inc.

Another awardee is Mr. Reynaldo Labrador.  He sponsored the scholarship of Cesar L Gacosta who finished Computer Science at the AMA Computer College in Legaspi City.

The fourth awardee is the anonymous sponsor of Salvacion Gardon who is now a graduate in Elementary Education from the Bicol University in Legaspi City.  The sponsor who remains incognito for the past four years has decided to come out in the open during the program, receive the award and extend his personal felicitations to Salvacion for successfully finishing her course.
